IGSN stands for
International Geo Sample Number. The IGSN is an alphanumeric code that uniquely
identifies samples taken from our natural environment (for example: rock specimens, water samples,
sediment cores), as well as related sampling features (sites, stations, stratigraphic sections, etc.).
